Cabin X
A compact off-grid retreat combining minimalist design with complete self-sufficiency.
Cabin X challenges everything you think you know about off-grid living. This compact 65m² retreat proves that sustainability and luxury are not mutually exclusive — delivering a five-star experience with zero connection to municipal services. Developed in partnership with The Outdoor Collective for their high-end eco-tourism venture, Cabin X operates entirely on renewable energy. A 6kW solar array with 20kWh battery storage provides abundant power, while rainwater harvesting and advanced greywater treatment create a closed-loop water system. The cabin's construction follows our most rigorous sustainability protocols. The steel frame contains 85% recycled content and is 100% recyclable at end of life. SIP panels achieve R7.0 wall insulation without thermal bridging, while a living roof provides additional insulation and integrates the structure into the native landscape. Interior spaces are minimal but meticulously detailed. The open-plan living and kitchen area features locally sourced macrocarpa joinery, Italian porcelain tiles, and a wall of glazing framing views across the vineyard. A sleeping loft above reduces footprint while maximizing the sense of spaciousness.
